Postpartum Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder


According to statistics, approximately 9% of women experience postpartum post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) following childbirth. Most often, this condition is caused by a real or perceived trauma during delivery or postpartum.

Postpartum PTSD is temporary and treatable with professional help. It is important to treat it as soon as possible to avoid negative effects on the child.

The suffering of a mother during childbirth can have negative consequences for her relationship with her baby and, consequently, possible impediments to the healthy development of the child. Early attention to traumatized mother is key here to prevent the problems arising.
